A Hell Pug is a fiendish creature in Dungeons & Dragons, often depicted as an infernal version of a regular pug, infused with demonic or devilish traits. These creatures are typically associated with the lower planes, especially the Nine Hells or the Abyss, depending on their exact nature. They might be minions of greater fiends, familiars to warlocks who have made pacts with dark entities, or independent troublemakers spreading mischief and chaos.  

Physically, a Hell Pug resembles a normal pug but with exaggerated infernal features—glowing red eyes, small horns, bat-like wings, and a prehensile tail ending in a spade or flame. Its fur may smolder, crackling with embers, and its breath can carry the scent of brimstone. Despite their small size, Hell Pugs can be deceptively dangerous, possessing minor magical abilities such as producing hellfire, exhaling noxious fumes, or teleporting short distances. Some versions may have an unnaturally loud and eerie bark that unnerves creatures nearby.  

In terms of personality, Hell Pugs are mischievous, stubborn, and often cruelly playful, enjoying the suffering of mortals in minor but persistent ways. They might chew on enchanted items, rearrange summoning circles to cause miscasts, or steal small trinkets for their amusement. Some are bound to powerful fiends, acting as messengers or spies, while others escape to the Material Plane to wreak havoc.  

As companions, Hell Pugs can be loyal but demanding, often requiring bribes of infernal treats or flattery. They might serve as familiars to fiendish spellcasters or be sought after by eccentric collectors of rare and dangerous creatures. A Hell Pug's presence in a game can add both comic relief and an unpredictable element of chaos, making them a memorable addition to any campaign.
