A Chihuahua is a very small dog breed known for its tiny size, large eyes, and big ears relative to its body. Originating from Mexico, it is one of the smallest dog breeds in the world, usually weighing between 2 to 6 pounds (0.9 to 2.7 kg). Despite their small stature, Chihuahuas are known for their bold, confident, and sometimes feisty personalities. They are often very loyal to their owners and can form strong bonds with a single person, sometimes being wary of strangers.

Chihuahuas come in two coat types: smooth (short-haired) and long-haired, with a wide variety of colors and patterns, including fawn, black, white, and spotted combinations. Their lifespan is relatively long for dogs, often ranging from 12 to 20 years, making them lifelong companions.

They are intelligent and can be trained, but their stubborn streak can make training challenging. Chihuahuas are best suited to homes where they receive lots of attention, and due to their fragility, they require careful handling around children or larger pets.
