A Banshee in Dungeons & Dragons is an undead spirit, typically the vengeful remnant of an elf who was consumed by vanity and cruelty in life. When such an elf dies without redemption, its soul fails to pass on, transforming into a hateful entity that haunts the land. Banshees are spectral beings, appearing as ghostly, emaciated figures with flowing hair and tattered garments, radiating an eerie glow.

In gameplay, banshees are formidable foes with powerful abilities. Their most feared attack is their Wail, a supernatural scream that can instantly drop creatures to zero hit points if they fail a Constitution saving throw.
