In Dungeons & Dragons, Dark Elves, or Drow, are an elven subrace known for their subterranean society, exceptional agility, and innate magic. Traditionally, they originate from the Underdark, where they follow the ruthless dictates of Lolth, the Spider Queen. However, the term "Dark Elf (High Class)" isn’t an official designation in D&D lore but could refer to noble Drow or elite members of their rigid caste system.

Drow society is matriarchal, ruled by priestesses of Lolth, with noble houses vying for dominance. High-class Dark Elves typically belong to powerful families and wield influence through magic, politics, and subterfuge. These nobles receive superior training, often excelling as spellcasters, particularly clerics of Lolth or powerful wizards. Their noble status grants them privileges, better equipment, and powerful allies, but also makes them targets for assassination or intrigue.

Physically, Drow have obsidian skin, white or silver hair, and striking red, purple, or amber eyes. They possess keen dexterity, innate spellcasting (such as Darkness and Faerie Fire), and natural resistance to magic. However, they suffer from sunlight sensitivity, making prolonged exposure to daylight a hindrance.

While most Drow follow Lolth’s dogma, some rebel, seeking freedom on the surface or opposing their society’s cruelty. These outcasts, often heroes in D&D narratives, challenge the perception that all Dark Elves are inherently evil.
