These creatures are the result of a dragon voluntarily or unwillingly transforming into an undead entity, often in pursuit of immortality. The process of becoming a Dracolich involves the dragon's soul being bound to a phylactery, a magical object that preserves the dragon’s essence, while its physical form is reanimated.
