In Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), goblins are a common humanoid species often encountered in the game's fantasy worlds. They typically stand about 3 to 4 feet tall, with green or grayish skin, long pointy ears, and sharp teeth. Goblins are known for their cunning nature, chaotic behavior, and tendency to form small tribes or bands.

Physically weak compared to many other creatures in the game, goblins compensate with their sheer numbers, resourcefulness, and knack for setting traps. They are often depicted as scavengers, raiders, or minions serving more powerful creatures, such as hobgoblins or bugbears. Despite their diminutive size, goblins can pose a threat to unwary adventurers, especially when they work together or employ ambush tactics.

Goblins are not inherently evil, but they are commonly depicted as such in D&D lore. However, individual goblins may vary in alignment and temperament, offering opportunities for role-playing encounters beyond simple combat. Some goblins may be coerced into serving darker powers, while others might be open to negotiation or even friendship under the right circumstances.

In D&D, goblins are typically found in underground lairs, ruined buildings, or wilderness areas close to civilization. They may be encountered as part of random encounters, guarding treasure, or as part of larger plots orchestrated by more powerful adversaries.

Goblins are a staple of D&D campaigns, offering low-level challenges for beginning adventurers and opportunities for creative storytelling. Their simple yet versatile nature allows Dungeon Masters to incorporate them into a wide range of scenarios, from straightforward dungeon crawls to complex political intrigues. Whether they're causing trouble in a remote village or serving as minions to a powerful warlock, goblins add a touch of classic fantasy flavor to the world of Dungeons & Dragons.
