In Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), Lamias are monstrous creatures originating from Greek mythology, adapted into the game's fantasy setting. Lamias are typically depicted as half-woman, half-serpent beings, possessing both the upper body of a human and the lower body of a serpent. They are often portrayed as seductive and cunning, using their beauty and magical abilities to ensnare and manipulate unsuspecting adventurers.

In D&D lore, Lamias are powerful spellcasters, particularly adept in enchantment and illusion magic. They are often found leading groups of other monstrous creatures or acting as the guardians of ancient ruins or forbidden temples. Lamias are known for their intelligence and manipulative nature, using their spells and charms to control those around them and bend them to their will.

In combat, Lamias prefer to rely on their magic and cunning rather than brute strength. They possess innate spellcasting abilities, allowing them to cast spells such as charm person, suggestion, and confusion to confuse and control their enemies. Additionally, they are skilled in using their serpentine agility to evade attacks and strike from unexpected angles.

Lamias are often depicted as tragic figures in D&D lore, cursed by their own desires and ambitions. Some may seek redemption or freedom from their curse, while others fully embrace their wicked nature and revel in the chaos they sow. Regardless of their motivations, encountering a Lamia is always a dangerous proposition for adventurers, as they must navigate not only the physical threat posed by these creatures but also the psychological manipulation they employ to achieve their goals.
