A Living Landslide in Dungeons & Dragons is a unique and terrifying natural phenomenon that combines the forces of nature with sentient movement. Typically encountered in mountainous or hilly terrain, a Living Landslide is a massive, shifting mass of earth, rocks, and debris animated by elemental or arcane magic. This moving landslide is not simply a random avalanche or rockfall; it possesses a form of consciousness or instinct that drives it to seek out and destroy anything in its path.

The origins of a Living Landslide can vary, but it is often tied to ancient magical forces, curses, or the wrath of earth-based deities or elementals. In some cases, the slide might be the result of a failed ritual, a corrupted elemental force, or a disturbance in the natural balance of the earth. It could also be the manifestation of the land’s anger, created when the land feels threatened by excessive mining or magical interference.

When adventurers encounter a Living Landslide, they face more than just the physical danger of falling rocks and earth; the landslide itself is capable of intelligent actions, actively hunting for targets with unrelenting force. Its form is ever-changing as rocks and earth are continuously consumed and displaced, giving it an unpredictable and dynamic nature. Combat with a Living Landslide is challenging, as the environment itself becomes a shifting battlefield, with hazards constantly changing. Characters caught in the landslide risk being buried alive, crushed, or scattered, and even those outside its immediate range might find the terrain unstable, hindering movement or providing new threats.

The Living Landslide offers a compelling mix of natural disaster and living menace, turning the environment itself into an adversary that requires both tactical and creative thinking to overcome.
