In Dungeons & Dragons, a Minotaur Skeleton is an undead creature that serves as a twisted mockery of the powerful minotaurs from which it originated. Minotaurs are known for their brute strength, ferocity, and unrelenting pursuit of prey within maze-like environments. When one of these fearsome creatures dies and is reanimated through necromantic magic, what returns is a skeletal version stripped of the intelligence, culture, and instincts it once had, now fueled solely by dark energy and a drive to destroy.
The Minotaur Skeleton retains the towering, horned frame of a living minotaur but is reduced to bones animated by malevolent force. It typically serves necromancers, liches, death priests, or other masters of the undead, who reanimate it to act as a guard, soldier, or enforcer. Though it loses the cunning and territorial behavior of its living counterpart, it retains the terrifying charge attack and raw physical power that made minotaurs formidable in life. Its great axe or horns deliver devastating blows, and its undead nature makes it immune to poisons, disease, and the effects that typically afflict the living.
In combat, Minotaur Skeletons are used for their shock value and ability to deal high melee damage. Their Charge feature allows them to close distances quickly and deal bonus damage if they move in a straight line before hitting their target. Despite their lack of intelligence and self-preservation, they are relentless and will fight until they are destroyed, which makes them particularly dangerous in groups or when supporting other undead.
Because they are mindless, they are often used as pawns or part of an undead horde, obeying simple commands and patrolling tombs, labyrinths, or ancient ruins. Their appearance can inspire fear, not just because of their monstrous skeletal visage, but also due to the implication that a powerful necromancer or dark force is at work.
