A Snow Golem in Dungeons & Dragons is a magical construct formed from packed snow, often animated through arcane rituals or the intervention of elemental forces. These creatures are typically created as guardians or servants by powerful spellcasters or druids inhabiting icy regions. Snow Golems resemble humanoid figures sculpted from snow, with crystalline eyes that glow faintly, and often have jagged icicles protruding from their limbs. Their size and appearance can vary, but they usually stand between 6 and 9 feet tall and weigh several hundred pounds due to the density of their enchanted form.
Snow Golems are immune to cold and highly resistant to non-magical attacks, as their soft, snowy bodies can absorb blows with ease. However, they are vulnerable to fire, which can quickly melt or destabilize their structure. These golems often wield natural weapons like icy fists or projectiles formed from sharp ice shards. Some versions of Snow Golems also exude a freezing aura, slowing or chilling those who venture too close.
In combat, Snow Golems are relentless, following the commands of their creators or defending their designated territories with single-minded determination. Outside of combat, they may act as sentries, maintaining a silent watch over their master's domain. Despite their imposing form, Snow Golems lack true intelligence and act purely on instinct or programmed instructions, making them incapable of independent thought or creativity.
Snow Golems are often found in icy tundras, frozen forests, or the slopes of snow-capped mountains, where their presence reinforces the harsh and unyielding nature of the environment. They are particularly useful for campaigns set in cold climates, providing a unique and thematic challenge for adventurers who must adapt their tactics to overcome these frosty guardians.
