This is a highly detailed miniature of a Stirge from the Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual.

This model was created by MZ4250 who makes amazingly accurate models of the Monster Manual creatures and provided by Commercial License.

In Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), a stirge is a small, blood-sucking, bat-like creature often encountered in dark, dank places like caves, swamps, or forests. Resembling a grotesque fusion of bat and mosquito, stirges are relentless predators driven by an insatiable hunger for blood. These creatures possess a keen sense of smell and are attracted to the scent of warm-blooded creatures, including adventurers.

Stirges attack by swooping down from above, using their keen agility and speed to latch onto their victims. Once attached, they use their sharp proboscis-like mouthparts to pierce the skin and feed on blood. Stirges typically hunt in swarms, making them particularly dangerous adversaries for unprepared adventurers.

Despite their small size, stirges can pose a significant threat due to their voracious appetite and ability to drain blood quickly. Their attacks not only cause physical harm but can also transmit diseases or weaken victims through blood loss.

In combat, stirges are agile and difficult to hit, often darting in and out of reach to avoid retaliation. Their swarming behavior can overwhelm even the most seasoned adventurers if not dealt with swiftly and efficiently.

Stirges are commonly featured in low to mid-level adventures as minor nuisances or part of larger encounters. However, in the right circumstances or with sufficient numbers, they can prove to be formidable foes, especially for low-level parties.

Their blood-draining nature and eerie appearance make stirges a memorable and often dreaded encounter in the dark corners of the D&D world, adding an element of suspense and danger to any adventure.
