This model was created by Schlossbauer who makes amazingly accurate models of the Monster Manual creatures and provided by Commercial Licence.
A Yeast Ooze is a peculiar and dangerous creature found in certain Dungeons & Dragons adventures, notably appearing in Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage. It is an unusual type of ooze that combines the typical amorphous, mindless traits of its kin with traits more closely associated with fermentation and fungi. This creature is not just a mindless blob; it’s a volatile mass of bubbling yeast, foaming froth, and explosive gases, capable of causing significant harm to anyone who comes too close.
The Yeast Ooze thrives in damp, subterranean environments, often near breweries, taverns, or magical laboratories where fermentation experiments have gone awry. Its body constantly shifts and churns as gases build within it. These volatile pressures can erupt without warning, causing the ooze to burst in a spray of scalding foam and noxious vapors. Unlike most oozes, it doesn’t rely solely on acidic digestion to attack; instead, its unique composition allows it to exude clouds of intoxicating fumes that can leave adventurers dizzy, disoriented, or even poisoned.
One of its most distinctive features is its ability to multiply. If not completely destroyed, portions of the ooze can slough off and form new, smaller versions of the original. This regenerative trait makes it a difficult opponent to dispatch unless fire or magical damage is used to fully consume its body. The Yeast Ooze also has a tendency to ferment organic material it consumes, breaking it down in a way that generates heat and pressure, leading to spontaneous internal explosions.
While bizarre and even comical at first glance, the Yeast Ooze is a genuine threat. Its unpredictability, resilience, and area-affecting abilities make it more than just a novelty encounter. Clever dungeon masters often use it as both a combat hazard and a thematic environmental challenge, especially in settings that involve brewing or magical experiments gone wrong.
