In *Dungeons & Dragons*, a Kobold Boss is a more powerful and influential variant of the standard kobold, a small, reptilian creature often found in groups. Kobolds are typically cowardly and weak individually, but a Kobold Boss stands out due to its leadership role within kobold communities. It is cunning and skilled at directing other kobolds in battle, often taking charge of raids or defending kobold lairs.

While not physically imposing, the Kobold Boss has a slightly higher hit point total and better armor than regular kobolds, usually due to better equipment or simple cunning. It is armed with a basic melee weapon, such as a dagger or spear, but its real strength comes from its ability to inspire and command other kobolds. In combat, the Kobold Boss uses tactics like hiding behind minions or attacking from a distance, letting its followers do the bulk of the fighting. 

One of the main traits of a Kobold Boss is its "Pack Tactics" ability, which allows it to gain an advantage on attack rolls when its allies are nearby. It also has the ability to order other kobolds to attack as a bonus action, making it a dangerous opponent when surrounded by its tribe. Despite its limited combat abilities, the Kobold Boss’s strategic mind and leadership make it a threat that can significantly amplify the effectiveness of its minions. This makes encounters with a Kobold Boss more challenging than fighting standard kobolds.
