A Kobold Zombie in Dungeons & Dragons is an undead creature created by animating the corpse of a kobold, a small, reptilian humanoid. Kobolds are typically weak creatures that dwell in dark places like caves, and they're often associated with traps, ambushes, and cunning tactics. When a kobold dies and is reanimated as a zombie, it loses all its intelligence, cunning, and individuality, becoming a mindless, shambling servant under the control of its creator.
As a zombie, it retains the general appearance of a kobold but shows obvious signs of decay—rotting flesh, dull eyes, and sluggish movements. Like all zombies, the Kobold Zombie has low intelligence and is driven by basic instincts to follow orders or attack living creatures. It is much tougher than a living kobold because zombies are resilient to most damage, especially due to their undead nature. They don't tire, feel pain, or experience fear, which makes them persistent enemies in combat.
In terms of stats, Kobold Zombies are typically slow-moving but difficult to kill due to their undead resilience, which includes resistances to certain types of damage and the ability to shrug off mortal wounds. They also lack the cowardice common to living kobolds and fight to the death, serving as useful minions for necromancers or evil spellcasters looking to bolster their forces. However, they remain fairly weak compared to other zombie variants, given the small size and limited strength of kobolds.
