A tiger is a large carnivorous mammal and one of the most iconic members of the cat family (Felidae). Scientifically named Panthera tigris, tigers are native to parts of Asia, including India, Russia’s Far East, Southeast Asia, and parts of China. They are the largest wild cats in the world, with adult males sometimes exceeding 300 kilograms (660 pounds) and measuring up to 3.3 meters (11 feet) from head to tail.

Tigers are renowned for their striking orange coats with black stripes, though the pattern of stripes is unique to each individual, similar to human fingerprints. These stripes provide camouflage in tall grasses and forests, helping them stalk prey, which primarily consists of large herbivores such as deer, wild boar, and buffalo. They are solitary hunters, relying on stealth, strength, and powerful jaws to capture their prey.

Tigers are also excellent swimmers, a trait not common in all big cats, and they often use water to cool off or traverse their territories. Their roar can be heard up to 3 kilometers (nearly 2 miles) away, which helps them communicate across large areas.

Unfortunately, tigers are endangered due to habitat loss, poaching for their fur and body parts, and human-wildlife conflict. Conservation efforts, such as protected reserves and anti-poaching initiatives, aim to stabilize and grow their populations in the wild.

In culture, tigers symbolize strength, courage, and power and appear in folklore, art, and national symbols across Asia. They are both a biological marvel and a cultural icon, representing the wild’s beauty and ferocity.

This Bust is 15cm tall.
