This is a highly detailed miniature of an Abyss Beetle.

This model was created by Drakeforge3Dwho makes amazingly accurate models of Dungeons and Dragons creatures and provided under Commercial License.

An Abyss Beetle in Dungeons & Dragons is a chitinous horror born in the lightless depths of the Lower Planes, where decay, rot, and demonic ichor seep into the soil. Larger than a warhorse and armored in jagged plates of blackened carapace, this monstrous insect skitters across cavern walls and jagged cliffs with unnerving speed. Its shell is etched with faint, vein-like fissures that glow dimly with abyssal energy, pulsing in rhythm with its hunger.

Unlike mundane giant beetles, the Abyss Beetle is steeped in fiendish influence. Its mandibles drip corrosive ichor capable of eating through iron, and its barbed legs end in hooked talons designed to latch onto prey and drag them into darkness. Clusters of multifaceted eyes reflect even the faintest glimmer of light, granting it superior darkvision and blindsight within close range. Its presence carries a subtle psychic pressure, as if the Abyss itself peers through its gaze.

Mechanically, the Abyss Beetle would be classified as a Large fiend (or monstrosity with fiendish traits), resistant to fire and poison damage and immune to poison conditions. Its natural armor grants a formidable Armor Class, and it boasts high Constitution. It can make multiattacks with its mandibles and raking claws, potentially grappling targets. Some variants expel a cone of acidic bile or emit a chittering shriek that forces nearby creatures to make a Wisdom saving throw or become frightened.

Abyss Beetles often serve greater demons as siege beasts or living guardians, burrowing through stone to undermine fortifications. In the wild reaches of the Underdark, they may be worshipped by cultists who mistake their alien resilience for divine favor.

Encountering an Abyss Beetle is a test of endurance. Its armored hide turns aside blades, its mandibles grind relentlessly, and its alien persistence reflects the Abyss itself—endless, corrosive, and utterly without mercy.

This model is 19.26mm tall at 32mm scale.
