This is a highly detailed miniature of an Abyssal Tank.

This model was created by Crossel who makes amazingly accurate models of the Monster Manual creatures and provided by kind permission.

An Abyssal Tank in Dungeons & Dragons is not an official creature found in core rulebooks, but rather a conceptual archetype typically used in high-level campaigns, homebrew settings, or infernal-themed adventures. The term combines two mechanical ideas: “Abyssal,” indicating origin from the chaotic evil plane of the Abyss, and “Tank,” a tactical role focused on absorbing damage, controlling battlefield positioning, and protecting allies or demonic commanders.

An Abyssal Tank is generally a massive fiend—often demon-kin or a corrupted mortal infused with abyssal essence—engineered or summoned to serve as a frontline bulwark. Unlike standard demons driven purely by frenzy, this entity embodies brutal resilience. It may resemble a towering, horned colossus clad in jagged chitin, molten iron growths, or living abyssal armor fused directly to its flesh. Its body is frequently covered in barbed protrusions, necrotic fissures, or writhing shadow-veins that pulse with chaotic energy.

Mechanically, an Abyssal Tank would emphasize exceptionally high hit points, damage resistances (especially to nonmagical weapons), and conditional immunities such as poison or fear. It might project an aura of dread, forcing nearby enemies to make Wisdom saving throws or suffer disadvantage on attacks against creatures other than the Tank itself. Some versions could possess reactive abilities—dealing damage when struck in melee, regenerating when standing in corrupted ground, or redirecting damage from allied demons.

Offensively, it is less about precision and more about zone denial. Slam attacks might knock enemies prone, grapple multiple targets, or create shockwaves of abyssal energy. Legendary or mythic variants could anchor reality itself, preventing teleportation or planar escape within a radius.

Narratively, an Abyssal Tank functions as a siege engine of the Lower Planes. It is deployed during demonic invasions, guarding abyssal rifts, or serving powerful demon lords as a living fortress. In play, it represents an encounter defined by endurance, positioning, and attrition rather than speed—an embodiment of relentless, chaotic brutality.

This model is 45mm tall at 32mm scale.
