This is a highly detailed miniature of an Allosaurus.

This model was created by MZ4250 who makes amazingly accurate models of the Monster Manual creatures and provided by Commercial License.

In Dungeons & Dragons, the Allosaurus is a fearsome dinosaur frequently used as both a dangerous adversary and a potential mount or companion in certain campaigns. It belongs to the category of Large beasts, typically neutral in alignment, and is most often found in prehistoric or primeval regions such as jungles, lost worlds, or magically preserved environments. Standing roughly 15 feet tall and stretching over 30 feet in length, an Allosaurus is a bipedal predator with a massive head, sharp claws, and a tail built for balance and power. Its most distinctive feature in combat is its ability to move with frightening speed for such a large creature.

The Allosaurus appears most notably in the Monster Manual, where it serves as one of the more dangerous examples of mundane (non-magical) beasts. It boasts a high Strength score and strong physical attacks, particularly a devastating bite and claw combination. In combat, it can use a special ability called Pounce, which allows it to knock a creature prone if it moves at least 30 feet straight toward it and hits with a claw attack. This sets up the opportunity to follow up with a bonus action bite, representing the Allosaurus’s efficient killing technique in nature. Though it lacks magical abilities or intelligence, its raw physicality and predatory instincts make it a deadly opponent, especially in terrain that favors ambushes or charging attacks.

Dungeon Masters may include Allosauruses in jungle treks, ancient druidic lands, or settings inspired by classic pulp adventures like the "Land That Time Forgot." Players in certain campaigns, particularly those that involve taming beasts or exploring exotic regions, may even encounter opportunities to ally with or ride these creatures. Druids and rangers with access to beasts of this size and power might use them as wild shape options or animal companions, depending on the edition and DM ruling. As such, the Allosaurus is both a symbol of primal fury and a thrilling encounter for players seeking a taste of prehistoric danger.
