An Ancient Graveyard Golem in Dungeons & Dragons is a hulking construct forged not from simple stone or iron, but from the remnants of the dead. Its body is assembled from cracked tombstones, ossified bone, rusted funerary chains, and slabs of mausoleum marble bound together by necromantic sigils. Skulls are set into its torso and shoulders like grim trophies, their hollow sockets faintly glowing with cold, corpse-light. A weathered headstone often crowns its back like a grim monument, etched with faded prayers that now serve as binding runes.

Created by necromancers, death cults, or forgotten graveyard guardians, the Ancient Graveyard Golem is designed to protect burial grounds or enforce the will of a lich. Unlike mindless undead, it is a construct animated by trapped spirits or negative energy, incapable of independent thought but relentless in fulfilling its directive. When disturbed, it lurches forward with ponderous inevitability, each step cracking stone beneath its weight.

Mechanically, this golem would be classified as a Large or Huge construct with high Armor Class and immunity to poison, psychic damage, and exhaustion. It may resist nonmagical weapon damage and possess Magic Resistance against spells. Its Slam attacks deal bludgeoning damage infused with necrotic energy. A Grave Pulse ability could emit a wave of chilling force, forcing nearby creatures to make Constitution saving throws or suffer necrotic damage and reduced movement. When heavily damaged, it might release a swarm of skeletal fragments that lash out at adjacent foes.

The Ancient Graveyard Golem does not roar or taunt. It advances in silence, the clatter of bone and chain echoing like distant funeral bells. Its presence chills the air, and the ground around it smells of damp soil and old stone. To face one is to challenge not just a construct, but the accumulated weight of countless graves given monstrous form.
