In Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), a Balor is one of the most powerful and feared demons in the game. Balors are monstrous creatures that hail from the Abyss, the chaotic and evil plane of existence in the D&D cosmology. They are towering figures, often depicted as being around 14 feet tall, with bat-like wings, clawed hands, and a flaming whip. Their bodies are adorned with fiery runes and they exude an aura of dread and malevolence.

Balors are incredibly strong and agile, capable of decimating enemies with their mighty blows and magical abilities. They possess immense physical strength, able to wield massive weapons with ease. Their flaming whip, known as a "Whip of Pain," can strike from a distance and inflict agonizing burns on their foes.

In addition to their formidable physical prowess, Balors are also spellcasters of considerable power. They can unleash devastating spells such as fireball, lightning bolt, and teleportation to outmaneuver and annihilate their enemies. Their innate magical abilities make them even more formidable opponents, as they can resist or dispel spells cast against them.

One of the most iconic features of Balors is their death throes ability. When slain, a Balor erupts in a fiery explosion, causing massive damage to everything around it. This makes defeating a Balor a dangerous proposition, as even in death they pose a deadly threat.

Balors are typically encountered as powerful adversaries in high-level D&D campaigns, often serving as leaders of demonic hordes or as agents of chaos and destruction in the service of evil deities. They are a symbol of ultimate evil and represent a significant challenge for even the most experienced adventurers brave enough to face them.
