A Blob of Annihilation is a horrifying mass of living corruption that exists solely to consume, dissolve, and erase all life in its path. Unlike the mindless oozes commonly found in dungeons, a Blob of Annihilation is an unnatural entity born from destructive magic, planar catastrophe, or the influence of the Far Realm. Some legends claim these creatures were created by deranged wizards attempting to harness the power of pure entropy, while others believe they are fragments of forgotten gods of decay.

At first glance, the blob appears as a massive, shifting mound of black and violet slime streaked with glowing veins of sickly green energy. Faces, skeletal remains, weapons, and armor can sometimes be seen suspended within its translucent body, slowly dissolving as they are absorbed forever. The surface constantly ripples with bubbles that burst into clouds of corrosive vapor, filling the air with the stench of acid and death.

The Blob of Annihilation moves with deceptive speed, flowing through corridors, beneath doors, and over obstacles with relentless determination. Wherever it passes, stone becomes pitted, metal rusts away, wood liquefies, and living creatures suffer agonizing burns before being engulfed entirely. Even magical barriers struggle to contain it, as its existence seems to unravel both matter and arcane energy alike.

In battle, the creature attacks by engulfing its prey, trapping victims inside its corrosive body while steadily dissolving flesh, armor, and equipment. Portions of the blob can split away into smaller masses, surrounding enemies before reforming into a single enormous organism. Some specimens release waves of annihilating energy that weaken magic, extinguish light, and erode enchanted weapons.

A Blob of Annihilation has no emotions, motives, or desire beyond endless consumption. It cannot be bargained with, intimidated, or reasoned against. Entire civilizations have been abandoned after one emerged from the depths beneath their foundations, leaving only lifeless ruins in its wake.
