In Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), a Cave Beast is a monstrous creature typically encountered in subterranean environments such as caves, caverns, or underground tunnels. These creatures are often depicted as fearsome predators, adapted to the darkness and confined spaces of their habitat. While there isn't a specific creature named "Cave Beast" in D&D, various monsters fit this general description.

One example of a Cave Beast in D&D could be a Umber Hulk. These massive insectoid creatures are known for their incredible strength, tough exoskeletons, and their ability to confuse and disorientate foes with their gaze. Umber Hulks are often found in underground environments, burrowing through earth and rock in search of prey.

Another potential Cave Beast is the Ankheg, a large insectoid creature resembling a cross between an ant and a beetle. Ankhegs tunnel through the earth, creating networks of underground passages and lairs. They are ambush predators, bursting from beneath the ground to seize unsuspecting victims with their powerful mandibles and acidic spray.

Additionally, creatures like Oozes and Gelatinous Cubes could also be considered Cave Beasts. These amorphous creatures lurk in the dark recesses of caves, blending in with their surroundings before ambushing unwary adventurers. Oozes dissolve organic matter with their acidic bodies, while Gelatinous Cubes engulf anything in their path, digesting it within their jelly-like mass.

Cave Beasts in D&D serve as formidable challenges for adventurers exploring underground environments. They may guard valuable treasures, serve as guardians for ancient ruins, or simply be part of the ecosystem of the underground world. Whatever their role, encountering a Cave Beast in D&D is sure to test the skills and bravery of any adventuring party.
