A Desert Zombie in Dungeons & Dragons is an undead creature animated by dark magic and preserved by the arid, sun-scorched sands of desert regions. Unlike typical zombies, which often decay rapidly and emit a foul stench, desert zombies are desiccated and leathery, their bodies mummified naturally by heat and dryness. This preservation makes them tougher, more durable, and strangely more agile than their urban or dungeon-dwelling counterparts. Their skin is drawn tightly over bones, their eyes sunken or missing entirely, and their movements are often jerky yet unnervingly quick for a corpse.

Desert zombies are usually found in cursed ruins, ancient tombs, or forgotten caravan trails buried beneath dunes. They are sometimes created as guardians by necromancers or desert cults to protect treasure hoards, magical relics, or sacred burial grounds.
