This model was created by Schlossbauer who makes amazingly accurate models of the Monster Manual creatures and provided by Commercial Licence.

A Sand Dweller in Dungeons & Dragons is a creature typically associated with arid, desert environments and the supernatural dangers hidden beneath the dunes. Though not a core monster from the original editions, Sand Dwellers have appeared in various third-party supplements, homebrew campaigns, and thematic settings. These creatures are often imagined as ancient, half-buried horrors or desert-native aberrations, blending the mystique of forgotten civilizations with the relentless hostility of the wastelands.

Physically, a Sand Dweller is often depicted as a gaunt, sinewy humanoid with desiccated skin like cracked leather, and sunken eyes that glow faintly with malevolence or arcane energy. They are believed to be cursed or magically warped beings—perhaps once human or elven—who were transformed by the arcane fallout of ancient cataclysms or the wrath of desert gods. Some versions describe them as undead or elemental in nature, drawn to the heat and silence of the sands, where they lie in wait for the unsuspecting. They often have an affinity for stealth, ambush tactics, and burrowing, able to strike from beneath the sand and retreat before retaliation.

In narrative terms, Sand Dwellers serve well as both direct threats and ominous background figures. They are often linked to lost tombs, ancient ruins, or desert temples, guarding powerful relics or long-forgotten lore. Encounters with them can suggest a deeper mystery: a curse on the land, a forbidden ritual, or the resurfacing of a dead empire. They may hunt in packs, emerging during sandstorms or under the light of desert moons, silently stalking caravans or lone wanderers.

As adversaries, they challenge players with their mobility, knowledge of terrain, and strange magical powers. Their presence adds an eerie, ancient tension to desert-based adventures, blurring the line between myth and monster, and reminding adventurers that the desert hides more than just sand—it remembers.
