A Werepomeranian in Dungeons & Dragons is a homebrew lycanthrope variant that combines the traits of a werecreature with the tiny, energetic nature of a Pomeranian. Unlike traditional werewolves, Werepomeranians transform into an adorable yet ferocious canine form, retaining their humanoid intelligence while gaining heightened agility, keen senses, and an excitable demeanor.
These creatures are often seen as comical or deceptively harmless, but their small size hides an unexpected ferocity. In hybrid form, they appear as a fluffy, pint-sized humanoid with large, expressive eyes, sharp teeth, and an uncontrollable urge to bark at perceived threats. Their bite, though small, carries the curse of lycanthropy, spreading their affliction to unsuspecting victims. They retain their human thoughts and personality but often struggle with impulsiveness, territorial instincts, and an irresistible need for attention.
Mechanically, a Werepomeranian could be represented using a modified werewolf stat block, with increased Dexterity and Charisma but reduced Strength. Their bite attack might deal less damage but come with a high chance of causing distraction or disorientation. Some variations include an ability to yip loudly to impose fear or grant allies temporary morale boosts. Due to their hyperactive nature, they may have an uncontrollable zooming ability, allowing them to move erratically in combat.
Roleplaying a Werepomeranian offers a mix of comedy and chaos, making them ideal for lighthearted campaigns or trickster-style characters. They might struggle with their transformation in tense situations, suddenly shifting due to excitement or stress. While not as menacing as a werewolf, their boundless energy and unpredictability make them a unique addition to any game, whether as a quirky party member, a cursed noble, or an overenthusiastic mini-boss with a Napoleon complex.
