In Dungeons & Dragons, a Zombie Wolf is a grisly undead creature borne of dark magic and necromantic rituals. Once ordinary wolves, these creatures have been reanimated through sinister means, typically by dark wizards or necromancers who seek to create minions with a feral and relentless nature.
A Zombie Wolf appears much like a normal wolf at first glance, but closer inspection reveals its rotting flesh, exposed bones, and a faint aura of decay. Its eyes glow with an unnatural, malevolent light, devoid of the vitality that once defined a living wolf. Despite its undead state, a Zombie Wolf retains its keen senses and hunting instincts, making it a dangerous predator even in death.
These creatures often lurk in places where death and decay are prevalent, such as graveyards, haunted forests, or the lairs of necromancers. They move silently, stalking their prey with an eerie determination. In combat, they attack with a savage ferocity, their jaws snapping and their claws tearing at flesh. Victims bitten by a Zombie Wolf risk infection with necrotic energy, potentially leading to a slow and painful transformation into a zombie themselves.
Due to their undead nature, Zombie Wolves are vulnerable to holy magic and weapons infused with positive energy. Clerics and paladins often find themselves tasked with eradicating these foul creatures to prevent further harm to the living. However, their resilience and pack mentality can make them a formidable challenge, especially when encountered in groups.
Encounters with Zombie Wolves evoke fear and revulsion among adventurers, reminding them of the dark forces that lurk in the shadows of the D&D world. As guardians of the undead realm or simply mindless predators, these creatures serve as a grim reminder of the perils that await those who delve too deeply into the realm of death and undeath.
