The Japanese Akita Inu is a noble and powerful breed that embodies strength, loyalty, and quiet dignity. Originating from the snowy northern prefecture of Akita in Japan, this ancient dog was originally bred for hunting large game such as boar, elk, and even bears. Over centuries, it became a symbol of protection and good fortune, revered as a loyal guardian and companion to samurai and nobility alike. 

The Akita Inu is a large, well-balanced dog with a muscular frame and a proud, upright posture. Its broad head, small triangular ears, and deeply set eyes give it an intelligent and confident expression, while the distinctive curled tail, carried gracefully over the back, adds to its regal silhouette. The double coat is thick and plush, perfectly suited to cold climates, with colours traditionally including red fawn, sesame, brindle, or pure white. The fur on the neck and chest is slightly longer, giving a mane-like impression that enhances the dog’s majestic presence.
