Wolfspitz – Hueforge 3D-Printed Artwork

The Wolfspitz, more commonly known as the Keeshond in some countries, is a striking and intelligent breed belonging to the Spitz family of dogs. Originating from Germany, where it was historically known as the Wolfspitz, it is the largest variety within the German Spitz group. The breed earned its name due to its resemblance to a wolf, with its thick double coat of silver-grey fur tipped with black and a characteristic ruff of hair around the neck that gives it a regal, lion-like appearance. Its expressive face, accentuated by dark spectacles around the eyes, gives it a keen, alert, and friendly expression.

The Wolfspitz has long been valued as a companion and watchdog, especially on river barges and farms, where its sharp intelligence and vigilance made it an excellent guardian. Despite its alertness, it is not aggressive and is known for being affectionate and loyal to its family. The breed thrives on companionship and dislikes being left alone for long periods, making it best suited for homes where it can be an active part of daily life.

This dog’s coat is one of its most distinguishing features, consisting of a dense undercoat and a longer outer layer that protects it from harsh weather. Regular grooming is necessary to prevent matting and to keep the coat in good condition. The Wolfspitz is a medium-sized dog, typically weighing between 25 and 35 pounds, with a compact and well-balanced build. Its plumed tail, carried curled over the back, adds to its distinctive outline.
